The downside is the difficulty to find Avgas and the maintenance labor cost which is considered at 12 hours per each flight hour. Spare parts could also be a problem but they estimate they will have enough in stock to keep the last DC-6 flying until 2015.

It flew as a tanker for Securite Civile in France who flew several DC-6's and now fly mostly CL-215's. Later moving on to Conair,a Canadian forestry airtanker service, in 1988 for fires throughout the Providences before being purchased by Everts in 2000 as Conair has mostly transitioned to Convair 580 turboprop tankers.

More than likely a maintenance repositioning as N251CE took off later probably to replace the open cargo position out of Anchorage. Everts used to fly a C-46 or DC-6 every night for a mail run ANC-FAI-ANC years ago but it seems to have stopped.
