Here sits three Northern Air Cargo airframes that were aquired when NAC retired their DC-6 fleet in September 2008 after 39 years flying the type. Everts or (Tatonduk Outfitters Limited) purchased the remaining aircraft under the condition they would not be flown in direct competition to NAC routes therefore all but one aircraft have been parked for spares.

396 viewsAirline: Everts Air CargoType: DC-6Registration: N351CEAirport: ENACity: KenaiState: AlaskaCountry: USADate Taken: May 4, 2011From Wikipedia.org, "The Anchorage Station Manager stated that the DC-6 was still considered to be a valuable aircraft for operations in the harsh conditions of Alaska, with excellent landing and take off performances on gravel runways. The downside is the difficulty to find Avgas and the maintenance labor cost which is considered at 12 hours per each flight hour. Spare parts could also be a problem but they estimate they will have enough in stock to keep the last DC-6 flying until 2015.

Perhaps some will eventually be saved as some may be timed out or reached the end of the airframe hours before an expensive full overhaul is needed, a minimum 2 million dollars, hence for now most will sit derelict.

368 viewsAirline: Fuerza AĆ©rea EcuatorianaType: Lockheed C-130BRegistration: FAE894Airport: UIOCity: QuitoState: N/ACountry: EcuadorDate Taken: December 2009Several times a week the C-130 departs early for Guayaquil and is gone most of the day. The interesting fact I learned is any Ecuadorian citizen can fly on an air force aircraft to another Ecuador city for around $30. This includes the C-130, 727, and HS-748. So if you see one it most likely is carrying non-military personnel.
